Daily Caili: No Personality

Oh my gosh I am off this week. So many great things have happened this past week for Neil and I, both personally and professionally. But for some reason, every time I sit down to write about it – any of it – I end up typing up a grocery list in the “Add New Post” box. And when I am finished with my editing and work for the day, I can’t bring myself to do normal people things like laundry or socializing. I feel like a lost cause. BUT! But…I think it’s healthy to have days like this, where productivity in my personal life is slow. I am still ahead on my editing schedule and business goals, the dishes in the dishwasher are clean and I upgraded my UofI sweats to yoga pants (slightly more socially acceptable, as long as I carry a yoga mat with me wherever I go).

The great news is that every lull is followed by a burst of energy, and next week I will be back with more blog posts and significantly more personality. For now, you can look forward to butterflies in your immediate blogging future because I’ve got some engagement shoots lined up! Nothing, nothing, nothing is better than love.

Amanda - I definitely feel you on this right about now! I can’t wait to see what you’ve got coming up! :)

Chicago Newborn Photographer: Baby K

Light! I love light! K’s parents opted to do his newborn shoot at my home because of the great natural light we have (we may or may not have factored that into our decision when choosing a place to live – Neil supports the craziness), and I am SO glad that we did. To future newborn clients, if your home does not offer great natural light I am always open to hosting you. The magic of good, quality light is unbelievable!

Now, onto the baby and a whole different kind of magic… He’s teeny-tiny and so sweet. This may sound obvious, but he just felt like a newborn to me. As if he were a day old, not almost two weeks. His expressions felt so new, in the sweetest way. I love everything about this shoot – from the sleepy poses to the love between the three of them as a new family. It was tangible and so, so beautiful. Enjoy my favorites from his session!

xoxo,
C

Daily Caili: This Week’s Favorites

This week, I am trying to figure out how I have gone nearly 28 years without knowing about the four things below. I am just now realizing that 3 of the 4 are food, so hopefully you like snacks as much as I do (specifically sweets).

1) Cheap grocery store flowers. These babies cost me all of $4 and have lasted for TWO WEEKS and counting! Now that is a good investment. Although peonies are my favorite, these dandelion-looking things might take second place based on their shelf life alone.

2) Just when you thought there weren’t already enough donut sightings on my blog already, this ice cream happened. Amazing.

3) Have you heard of this stuff? Trader Joe’s sells the cookie butter shown below and I’ve already blown through half a jar in four days. It’s incredible. My brother in law used it to make ice cream, which is just irresponsible but so impressive.

4) Tootsie roll flavored diet soda to wash it all down – who thinks of this stuff?!? The diet aspect almost negates the ice cream and cookie butter. And it’s carbonated, which obviously calms your stomach. ;)

My blood sugar is through the roof right now, but I am having one heck of a good Wednesday! I’ll let you know how I feel once this sugar buzz wears off. :)

xoxo,
Caili

Christy Tyler - I got a sugar rush just reading this!! haha!!

Amanda - That ice cream, must have! Gah!

Evanston Newborn Photographer: Meet Baby T!

She’s here, she’s here! I had a reminder on my calendar to email Kiran and wish her a happy due date, but I never got to check that one off the list because miss T came early! And holy cow did she exceed my expectations in the cuteness category. I could have taken photos of her all day, and she may have let me too. This little lady was a sleepy, posable dream! Sebastine and Kiran are such warm people and I can’t wait to see what kind of parents they will be. Enjoy some of my favorites from T’s newborn session!

Beautiful, beautiful stuff! Writing this post makes me miss her! :)

Caili Helsper - Or YOU can have a baby so I can take pictures! :)

Kelly - Good gosh I need to have a baby so you can take his or her picture. Beautiful as usual! And look at all of that hair! What a cutie.

Michelle @ Taste As You Go - Oh my goodness, she’s adorable. Look at that full head of hair!

Mount Prospect Family Photographer: Luka is One!

Ah! This poor family and I had the worst luck with weather when planning their shoot. We initially scheduled their session for the beginning of March, which as you remember was when Chicago decided to do the opposite of cooperate. Schedules didn’t match until we finally made it happen – on a day with certain rain in the forecast. :-/ Mother nature must have been embarrassed about her behavior, because on the morning of our shoot we got gorgeous light and the rain started literally as we got in our cars to drive away. I could have kissed the sky!

I love the way that I leave sessions feeling connected to my clients in a new way. It’s so cool to be welcomed into their family and story for a short period of time, and this family did just that. I captured nothing BUT unfiltered love! I might just invite myself over for Sunday dinner.

Love them! Happy almost Friday, friends!
xoxo,
C
